Inspire Me Monday...

I know Mondays are tough. Aren't they? {sigh} Oh well! Here's to a bit of vintage inspiration for today!
Gin asked a question in my previous post when she saw the box of Pebbles, Inc chalks open on my work table... she wondered what I like to use them for. She also mentioned that she's a bit intimidated by them.

I love, love using my chalks when I want to do some subtle shading. Wet inks and chalks are sometimes a little too "in your face" for me... especially if I'm working on some vintage inspired pieces. In this case, the bingo card is real vintage, not a reproduction. To add even more aging to the edges, I just rubbed some chalk around them. :) And see the crown? That's a vintage dictionary page on a piece of grungeboard. After I adhered it, I added some touches of chalk. You can see how those little touches added just the right amount of "pop" to the piece, right?
My advice? Get them out and play! This is actually only one of the ways that I use them... Chalk is VERY easy to work with - it delivers a subtle blending that's much easier for me to achieve than trying to use wet inks and blending pads. To be honest, I like both methods, but use them in different situations. ;)

Have a happy Monday!

Great tips for using chalk. Love you vintage yummies in this post. Beautiful page and that bingo card is just amazing. I love that you said to just get the chalk out and play with it...I watch my 15 year old scrap with no fear. I think we all need to find our inner child when scrapping. I always try on the back of whatever I want to try a new technique on...then if I don't like it nobody sees it! Playing is the key though. Hugs,Amy

I smell a "scraplift" coming soon to a blog near you..bwahaahahaaha! Actually I would love to use this as a template for Angejolie's yearbook page since it's her kindergarten pafe I want to put 4 pictures, 1 for every year she has been at her school, if you don't mind. Thakns for all the tips, I might just pull out my 3 cases of chalk that are staring at me as we speak ;)
Have a great week!
