fishing on commercial pier and sharing some mommy cleaning and organizing tips

I was browsing for photos from the past year that I really wanted to scrapbook and stubbled onto these... I *adore* these photos that my husband took on a little fishing outing that he made with our boys... and since I wanted the photos to speak for themselves, I chose to keep that layout pretty simple. The journaling is on the tag tucked behind the center photo.

This week has been interesting. The oldest has been down with the yuckiest allergies... sigh. swollen, swollen eyes and lots of sneezing. Which means he's not always resting so good. So we haven't been that into school this week. You know it's bad when he chooses to sit out of his PE class and other "fun" activities that he enjoys...

And with all of my busy-ness, I started to feel slightly overwhelmed... and one of my fb friends posted this video with advice for overwhelm for entrepreneurs... so I decided to click on it. And started laughing. "When you're overwhelmed you start to feel like things are out of control... and things tend to be messy. Go clean something." Why was I laughing?! This is exactly what I'd been spending my spare moments doing in the last week. The house always gets slightly overwhelmed during the holiday season, so each day I'd been picking one thing to clean - wipe down appliances in the kitchen one day. Vacuum and wipe out the silverware drawer another. Clean out and sort through a couple of boxes of scrapbook supplies. Clean off my desktop:

And yes, it really helps me. Because when things are all cluttery, everywhere I look, I'm seeing something I should be doing everywhere that my eye rests. No. For real. By whittling away, bits at a time, doing one cleaning project a day, I feel like I'm making progress and not ignoring things that I need to do to keep myself from getting piled under.

I have lots of people ask me how I juggle things, and I wanted to start sharing a few of my tips... I'm not super woman who keeps everything perfectly organized all the time. But I do have a method to my madness, and this is one of those things.

Clean one thing everyday.

Whether it's cleaning off your desk, or organizing one drawer, of vacuuming the floors. By breaking my tasks into manageable chunks, I'm able to keep our home clean {NOT spotless}, in around 30 minutes per day. Once a week I spend more time in order to get the bathrooms and dusting done, with a little floor mopping on top, but that's pretty much it! I'll be sharing more tips soon! I'd challenge you to try it. It might not beb easy at first if you're a bit piled under, but once you've done it, you'll see the difference!

I love hearing other people's organizing tips/lives, etc. I agree--keeping up with it is the best way to keep the craziness from exploding.

I agree whole heartedly- you don't have time to go whole hog just try to tackle the pile that threatens to topple over most- it keeps you sane while you are busy. The page is BEAUTIFUL- that diagonal paper with the clusters and pops of color made me stop my web surfing tracks!
