states & capitals mini + free printable

One final project with the June Scrapbook Circle kit

As a family we don't travel a lot {for various reasons - one being that our son has a peanut allergy, and when he was small, it was hard to travel places and make sure he had both a safe environment and places to eat along the way. Now that he's getting older, we're venturing out a lot more, and it's been exciting and fun!}

I put together this mini with two purposes in mind - one being a fun way to flip through and review the states and capitals, and the second being a place to make notes, mark and add memorabilia as we travel to the different states. I'm sure as it expands, I'll be replacing the binder ring with something much larger!

Despite my best efforts, I did have one casualty - Louisiana was lost! Oh, no! I'm still hunting around my scrapbooking space, but I may be purchasing another set to pick up that last piece. I don't mind - the wooden state  pieces are lots of fun to work with!

Here are the individual pages:

Huge thanks to Lisa from Scrapbook Circle for having me!! ^_^

Along with my post of this mini album, I also wanted to offer up a free printable list of the states and capitals that you could use to make your own mini, layout or project! All I ask is that if you use it, you mention that it's from Bluebird Chic!

To download the printable, just click on the image to open the larger file. Once the larger file is open, just right click and save to your computer! It's a photo (jpeg image), so you just have to open it in your favorite photo program and print!

Enjoy!! And have a lovely Wednesday!

This month's JBS Gazette is HOT

I always love it when the current issue of the JBS Mercantile Gazette arrives! I have the absolute privilege of working with some fabulously talented ladies to pull together fresh ideas and inspiration featuring all of the yummy goods from Jenni Bowlin!

This month I've put together {my very first} video tutorial demonstrating the book binding technique that I used for the June project kit mini album. The Wren collection mini papers were PERFECT to create a fun little book that I'm hoping to fill with summer fun!

Here's to a week filled with amazing! Happy Monday!

Overhaul. Underway.

BeepBeep. Can you hear the construction stuff? I can! Many of you may be aware of my handmade business, bluebird chic. When I first listed my VERY first item on Etsy, last year - this month, I had hopes and dreams. And... a lot of hopes. At first I made the tough decision to keep the two things separate - my business and the products that I create for sale. But. Things have started to change a bit as the business evolves {which is awesome and exciting!}

So, now I'm thinking on whether I want to combine them all into one spot. That's a maybe. :) For now, I'm just overhauling this blog to coordinate with the other parts of my business.

I'm working on creating a place that incorporates the many parts of my creative life and business, and I hope that you're as excited as I am to be on this journey!

JBS Mercantile June awesomeness

This month's kits are just amazing. As always!! I loved working with them and can't wait to do more! ^_^

Along with my mini album that I created {psst! There are just a few kits left!}, I put together these layouts with the main, artisan, and antiquarian kits.

More watercolors, and lots of goodness from the kits. Journaling a bit about our oldest...

And the youngest, too.
We're so proud of them and how they've grown this year! BOTH of them! They've accomplished so much and are growing into some awesome, talented young men - both academically, athletically, and spiritually. We've got big love for our boys. ^_^

DIY Father's Day Wall Art

I had so much fun putting together these fun, guy-themed wall art pieces for Father's Day!

The Chap line has always, always been an all time favorite collection from American Crafts. Since I'm surrounded by guys in the house, I'm always looking for classy collections to scrapbook with. And the new journal thickers from the Amy Tangerine line are on the top of my go-to list for my stash!

To see a complete list of supplies and close ups of the projects, check out the post on the American Crafts blog!

Have a lovely Wednesday!!

guesting for June with Scrapbook Circle

I've had the special opportunity to guest for Scrapbook Circle this month! Huge thank you to Lisa for inviting me! Their "Field Notes" kit was super fun to work with!

I'll share a couple of projects today, and I still have one really big one in the works! ^_^

{the photo credit on this layout goes to Anna Bowkis and was used with her permission! ^_^}

Thanks again to Scrapbook Circle and Lisa for having me! Happy Monday, all!

a fond farewell

They say all good things must come to an end - and sometimes it's hard, but life goes on, and usually new and exciting things open up with the closing of the old and familiar. I know I will always miss this company. It's been a favorite since I first discovered it, and I've always had a hefty stash of their goods since then.

Instead of being sad, I wanted to share some of my favorite projects I made using Hambly goods.

This will always be a fave. I documented traveling to my grandmother's funeral in January. Such a beautiful piece for something so sad.

I could go on and on. :) But I won't! I'll let you stop by and be inspired by the others - the final team for Hambly Screenprints.

pushing into something new... SOLD OUT

As usual, been super busy around here for the end of the school year! Mama is running like crazy this week to keep up with work, testing stuff for end of school year for the boys, and home.

But, I wanted to pop in here really quick and share something fun! I've got lots, and lots of things going on right now, and one of the fun ones involves designing again a bit more! Once I sat down and started doing a bit, I remembered just how much I love it - and how happy it makes me. Part of that was designing these customs buttons to add to my orders for my shop:

When you order something from my shop, it comes packaged like this {this is also a priority shipping upgrade}:

The side features my website address.

Long story short, I've had some interest in these little guys and I'm selling a limited number of sets. I'll be doing a reorder really soon, with some edits. This was my first time ordering, and I want to resize a couple of little things, and tweak a few of the colors.

If you're interested, you can let me know at my business email - bluebirdchic at gmail dot com.

Have a lovely Thursday!!

****update - all button sets are sold out at this time! I have a new set on reorder and will post as soon as they're available!!****

you amaze me mini class

I had the absolute honor and privilege of working with JBS Mercantile to create their project kit for the month of June. And they were seriously awesome to work with. I pulled together the supplies to create this sweet little mini {it's 4x6 - but not really small, since it has a total of 23 double page spreads!) So all of this tiny awesomeness fits in your hands to brighten your day!

The instructions to create your own hand stitched, bound book are included in your purchase of the kit. So not only do you get these sweet supplies, you can make the book just like mine!

Here's a peek at a few of the pages:

Soft, light, and pretty, it's meant to be an uplifting place to journal a few notes, slap a photo or two, and add a quote here and there to keep  you positive and moving upward!

Happy Friday!!!
