a castle with a view

I love trips to the beach - and since we live fairly close, we usually make it there a quite a lot {though for some reason, not this year? Must remedy that...}

celebrate - ribbon arrow confetti? yes, please!

Last week on the American Crafts blog, the designers shared fun and innovative ways to use one of my favorite products - ribbon! For my assignment, I chose to use the fabulous assortment of ribbons that were released with the Amy Tangerine Sketchbook line.

Arrows are so trendy right now - and you can add this simple confetti to your layouts and cards in a snap by simply folding the ribbon in half, and cutting on an angle - then move your scissors down just a 1/4", and snip again. After creating a good size pile, just attach them to your project using your favorite adhesive.

I definitely wish I had recorded a bit more of the story for myself on this - I can't seem to recall WHY our oldest looks like he just woke up? He's not even wearing a regular shirt! LOL At least they look like they're having fun. :)

July JBS Mercantile peek

I am in love with this month's kit offerings. Seriously. The latest from Cosmo Cricket, OA, Studio Calico Hey Day. Sigh. BIG sigh. And the mini album kit this month was put together by Jill - perfection.

I've got one layout to share today - and be sure to check out the gallery to see what the other girls have done!

Happy Monday!!

a fond farewell

They say all good things must come to an end - and sometimes it's hard, but life goes on, and usually new and exciting things open up with the closing of the old and familiar. I know I will always miss this company. It's been a favorite since I first discovered it, and I've always had a hefty stash of their goods since then.

Instead of being sad, I wanted to share some of my favorite projects I made using Hambly goods.

This will always be a fave. I documented traveling to my grandmother's funeral in January. Such a beautiful piece for something so sad.

I could go on and on. :) But I won't! I'll let you stop by and be inspired by the others - the final team for Hambly Screenprints.

a peek at my jbs february kit projects

I love that we set aside weekly time to be together. It's so important to spend time as a couple that's not focussed on the kids or work or other things. We're not too exciting right now - by the time we finish with our week's work/tasks, we just want to collapse with some take out and a flick. I'm grateful that we have family that's willing to take our boys for a couple of hours a week so that we have this time.

The gallery of all the peeks at what the design team girls from jbs is up to see! This kit is a-mazing. And the ladies put together some fabulous projects!! I can't wait to share more!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Peek at the January JBS Mercantile kit

I wanted to post this peek at the JBS Mercantile kit for January!! It's such a fun, happy kit. The title for my layout was inspired by my friend, Jen's blog title! I think it's such an apt description for what we do as scrapbookers...

Now. I'm crawling off to bed. It's been so long since I was sick, I can't remember... but I feel awful today! Hopefully a bit of rest will help!

One Little Word class winner and some Nikki Sivils gingerbread land

Wanted to share my last projects for Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker today! I'm so thankful for my spot on that team - Nikki was one of the first companies to take a chance on me as a creative designer just over 1-1/2 years ago! SO much has happened since that time, but getting those first spots as a designer gave me the foundation I needed to accomplish many of the things that I have! ^_^ Nikki and her team have been fabulous to work with!

All of these projects use the super fun Gingerbread Land collection:

And I popped in to random.org to grab a winner for the Ali Edwards One Little Word 2012 class giveaway! It gave me this one:

Oh how cool. Thanks for the opportunity.

Congrats!! Shoot me an email at chicscrapper at gmail dot com and I'll send you the coupon code to give you a free checkout to activate the class! It starts next week! I've chosen a word for myself for several years now, and it's a great opportunity for growth throughout the year!

pumpkins

I just wanted to take a minute today to post a layout that I made this summer around CHA time. It's been popping up as a top searched post here on my blog, so I thought I'd pass it along for the idea for this month's fast approaching Halloween holiday!

Layering patterned paper over and over in your layout is a great way to incorporate tons of fun - there are 6 patterend papers layered on top of each other in this one - and I've still maintained some of the "whitespace" that I love so much. I also kept things from getting cluttered by setting up a grid, and breaking the elements or photos into groups. Anyway, a little tip for your weekend scrapbooking!
We had so much fun carving pumpkins last year! It was loads of fun to use this Halloween line, Oct 31 from Fancy Pants to create this layout! It's definitely a fave!

Have a wonderful weekend!

project 52 update!

so, I've been thinking about my project 52 a quite a bit lately. It was  one of my goals to complete that this year. I tried for the 365, and just realized that's not gonna happen for me at this time in my life. {busy much?} And I'm ok with that. In fact, I just decided that I don't want to spend that much time on that particular project. {NO offense to those of you who do!}I do a digital/hybrid book each year with an overview of what happened each month., so I feel like that covers us in the department of "documenting life". Then I do the individual pages on whatever strikes my fancy. A story I want to tell a bit more about.

THEN comes the Project 52. That's sort of evolved into what's going on in my head. My life. Apart from the kiddos. Apart from the family. Lessons I'm learning. Things I'm spending my time on. Good things. Not so good things. I guess you could call it a sort of journal. I use that term loosely, though. And I wanted to make sure that I follow through on this. For me.

So here are the two layouts I put together last night. The photos are pulled from that calendar week. And my recollections of what was going through my head, working in my heart, and playing out in my life.

The pages tend to be a bit more simple, and focused on including my journaling.

Hope you're enjoying your Sunday!
