like father, like sons
We don't always have a lot of occasions to get all dressed up for, so when we all went to a wedding last December, it was fun to see the boys dressed up like their daddy! They all look so handsome together - but I know I'm biased!
Supplies: Glitz Designs: Love Games Whatnots, Love Games PeekaBoos, Love Games Glitzers, Love Games Scorecard, Love Games Titles Cardstock stickers, Stripes, Poppies, and Polka papers, Olive Green Teeny Alphas, Laced with Grace Title Cardstock stickers, Laced with Grace Glitzers, Afternoon Muse chipboard album page. Other: ribbon: craft supply, chipboard letters: American Crafts, Buttons: Jenni Bowlin, Lace: Prima.
And this past weekend, I was busy with MANY things - one of which was getting this cake put together for our nieces first birthday!
Supplies: Glitz Designs: Laced with Grace Polka, Floral, Stripe papers, Parchment Teeny Alphas, Afternoon Muse PeekaBoos, Afternoon Muse Journaling Cardstock Stickers, Laced with Grace Whatnots, Laced with Grace Journaling Cardstock Stickers, Love Games Journaling Cardstock Stickers. Other: Chipboard letters: American Crafts.
This is my final post as a Glitz Designs team member! I've so enjoyed my time there on the team - and the ladies have always been so generous! I'm going to be super busy in the upcoming months with some amazing ventures, so I needed to make some tough choices and unfortunately, that meant letting go of a few things... I'll definitely continue to keep an eye out for all the lovely upcoming products from this talented company!

love games giveaway update
Many of you know that blogger went on the fritz a bit last week the day after I posted the lovegames glitz giveaway... well, unfortunately, it ate many of your comments on the post! I had really enjoyed reading them, too! It was really refreshing to see how many of you focused on family, friends, and nature. All free stuff. All good stuff. :) And an awesome reminder.
So, to remedy the situation, I guess I'll leave comments open until Friday to enter for a chance to win! And if you posted previously and are still interested, please, please take a moment to check to see if your comment is still there!

feeling pretty and a faithful friend
We recently had a really big family occasion - it was exciting and lovely, and fun. But you know as a lady, you um, sometimes struggle with something to wear? As you know if you're a reader here, all of my guys were dec'd out in tuxes, and I didn't want to feel underdressed. So started the process of trying to find something suitable. And needless to say - it just couldn't be found. So what did I do? Not give up - that's for sure! I decided to make my outfit. Or I should say, I ended up just making the skirt. 30 yards of tulle, a zipper and lining fabric {but no pattern} later, this is what I had:
Supplies: Glitz Designs:Hoopla Zebra patterned paper, Scarlett Map, Floral, Bouquet, Polka patterned papers. Scarlett Glitzers, Rubons, Whatnots. Love Nest Whatnots. Pom poms, Black Yellow Aqua. Giant Rhinestones. Clear Red Aqua. Frosting, Pink Black Green. Teeny Alpha Aqua Block. Other: Foam letters from American Crafts
And my conclusion? Every woman needs a tulle skirt some time in her lifetime. I felt like a princess - in a very grown-up, awesome way.
The last time the boys got sick, I watched something cool. Our youngest definitely counts our oldest son to be his best friend - and to me, he really showed it lately when the big guy was under the weather {and working on a loose tooth! lol}. Instead of heading off and doing his own thing, he cuddled up to big brother even though he wasn't sick at all. Of course as a mom, part of me shuddered - knowing he would go down quickly with the same, but I figured it was inevitable, so I just let it go. I love seeing the bond between them, even though I spend half of my time breaking up their fights.
Supplies: Glitz Designs: Hoopla Pipework patterned paper. Scarlett Floral, Map patterned papers. Scarlett Titles, Journaling, Rubons. Love Nest Whatnots, Glitzers, Peekaboo. Hoopla Journaling. Teeny Alpha Yellow Block. Other: craft supply ribbon, button. Flower from Prima.

'tis the season
I know that Glitz Designs doesn't make any specifically holiday themed products, but I'd say this worked out pretty nicely! ^_^ I love how the vintage color combo totally reminds me of my grandma's house during Christmas.
Pictured, you'll see our unconventional tree from last year with feathers. It looked so cool with the lights - like snow, really! And some of the homemade rum truffles that I make and give away every year.
Closer peek at the title:

I always appreciate so much everything that everyone does to make the holidays special - and want to be able to give them a little something to show that...

oh my Glitz...
I recently received a package of their latest lines, and can I just say... I kept going from one thing to another... It all works together so fabulously that I wanted to use it ALL.
But I didn't. I just used some of it to put together these two layouts. :)
With all the talk this year about having an "attitude of gratitude" in the month of November {sort of like an advent idea, but Thanksgiving themed}, it really got me thinking. I want to live a life of gratitude. I live in one of the wealthiest nations in the world. I never go to bed at night hungry {except by my choosing! lol}, or want for shelter, or suffer oppression for having my own opinion. I have a family that loves me, and clean drinking water. I can worship freely without any oppression. I have access to medical and dental care. There is nothing that I need that I can't get. Nothing. I don't need designer clothes and bags. Fancy cars or shoes. Trips all over the globe. {though they might be nice!} I want to remember that I have what I need. And I should be grateful. All year round.
Supply List:
Glitz Designs "Scarlett" Papers: Polka, Map, Stripe
Glitz Designs "Scarlett" Glitzer stickers
Glitz Designs Love Nest Peek-A-Boo
Glitz Designs "Scarlett" Journaling Cardstock Stickers
Glitz Designs "Love Nest" Rubons
Glitz Designs Teeny Alpha Round
Other:
Trims: Wester's Pages, May Arts, Madori
Foam Letters: American Crafts
And how could I resist the birthday photos when the new "Hoopla" line is so perfect for scrapping them? I had actually run across these photos the other day while looking for something else and was thinking that I needed to find some way to scrapbook them, since they're so irresistible.
One quick trick: instead of peeling the "celebrate" letter off - I decided to keep them on the sheet! The white background worked in perfectly with what I was doing and I didn't have to worry about placing the letters evenly.
Supplies:
Glitz Designs "Love Nest" paper: Stripe
Glitz Designs "Hoopla" Papers: Pipework, Polka and Frames
Glitz Designs "Hoopla" Cardstock Titles, Glitzers, Rubons
Glitz Designs Teeny Alpha Aqua
Glitz Designs Frosting Giant Pink, Black, Green
Glitz Designs Stamps: Distressing Set 3
Other:
Tim Holz Distress Ink from Ranger in Pumace

spooky sweet
We love Halloween around here. There are so many fun things to do as a family around this holiday time of the year! The year we added to our holiday decor with this fun and spooky haunted house. The boys had sooo much fun putting it together one Saturday!
I love going with that distressed look for the autumn holidays. It just feels right. So the distressed couture and vintage love lines were a perfect fit!
I love, love how cheesecloth is a really simple way to add to that distressed feel of a layout. It's super easy to work with, too. I happen to buy this at Whole Foods while shopping one day, so it's unbleached - which gives it more of an aged look as well!
Supply list:
Glitz Designs Distressed Couture Papers: Block, Scroll
Glitz Designs Vintage Love Papers: Polka, Damask
Glitz Designs Black Flour di Lis Rubon
Glitz Designs Metallic Damask Rubon
Glitz Designs Frosting Strips - Red and Black
Glitz Designs Teeny Alpha Black Round
Other:
making memories trim
chipboard letters and shapes, orange cardstock: American Crafts
cheesecloth: Whole Foods grocery
My other fave thing about holiday time? Sweets and treats of course! What could possibly say "autumn" better than a carmel apple?
Glitz Designs Vintage Love Papers Damask, Polka, Floral, Velvet
Glitz Designs Vintage Love What-nots
Glitz Designs Kismet Accent Stickers
Glitz Designs Frosting Strips - Red and Black
Other:
making memories fabric trim
Prima flowers
American Crafts chipboard pieces, foam letters, tan button
Fabric shop vinyl flower
Jenni Bowlin orange button

a taste of autumn with glitz designs and fab friday
I love how the distressing on these papers lends to the nuance of the passing of time - something that we associate so closely with the coming of autumn. I used papers and ephemera from the Vintage Love collection, and then added a navy blue paper from the Maya Collection {I'm loving the comeback of navy blue lately!}

Living where we do, we don't experience autumn, and when we visited my family in November last year, it was so great to stalk around with my camera capturing some of those images that you may take for granted if you live further north of us! It was also great to see the boys experience the cooler weather, pumpkins and leaves!
For this one, I used the background paper from the Distressed Couture line, and accented with things from the Vintage Love line. The tag at the top contains my journaling. We made pumpkin muffins after coming back from the pool one day {that explains the missing shirt! lol}

I loved adding touches of orange and green to subtly hint at the pumpkin flaver of the muffins. :)
And yes, it's Friday! Woot!
Just a tiny peek at what's been up here this week! Hope you have a lovely Friday!

a lovely, lovely line of papers
Everything about these papers screams, "Scrapbook how much you love someone!" So that's what I did!
On our recent vacation trip, I set up a shot that my sister snapped away on... I'm always thankful to get new shots of us, since I'm usually the one holding the camera!
I just loooove the black, white, and gray with the pop of red. And the textures on the paper add so much to your page...
I'm really taking to my new purchase of a slice - I cut the fun flourishes around the heart out of one of the patterned papers I used!
And another two page layout. For some reason, they've just been working for me lately...
I love that they allow me more room to incorporate more of the things I love while leaving the whitespace that I'm so drawn to. :)

The lace trim I used is just a common millinery trim that you can find at your local fabric store.
Everything is from the fabulous Distressed Couture line by Glitz Designs! {With the exception of the lovely foam letters from American Crafts...)
Hope you've gotten inspired to scrap the one you love!

time... is on our side.
I wanna grow old with you...
I loved working with these papers, stickers, bling, rubons an stamps from Glitz! ^_^
There are actually a lot of details in this layout... I chose to stamp the numbers up to "8" because we were celebrating our 8th anniversary...

Getting Glitzy!
Yes, it's my very first layout for Glitz Designs! I am absolutely loving working with their products! ^_^

I got a little silly with inks and stamps for this one - and loved it. I used the frame stamps on transparency and then cut them out to layer underneath my photos. The heart is stamped with the music background stamp, and the grid is layered underneath.
This is such a sweet memory! We're cutting our cake at our little family anniversary celebration. I really can't believe it's been so many years already!
Here are a few detail shots:
Have a fabulous, creative day!

Raising the photos up on foam adhesive dots was a great way to give a little more dimension to the project - especially since I had other items on the page that stood out more - I didn't want the embellishments to steal the spotlight!
